Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best soil mix for vegetables?
The best soil mix for vegetables is nutrient-rich, well-draining, and free from synthetic chemicals. Vegetables are heavy feeders that need fertile soil with plenty of organic matter. True Organic® Vegetable & Flower Planting Mix is formulated specifically for edible and ornamental gardens, providing the nutrition vegetables need for productive growth.
Can I use the same soil for flowers and vegetables?
Yes. Flowers and vegetables have similar soil needs – both thrive in nutrient-rich, well-draining organic soil. True Organic® Vegetable & Flower Planting Mix is designed for both, making it easy to build mixed beds with edible and ornamental plants growing side by side.
What is the best soil for roses?
Roses prefer nutrient-rich, well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-6.5). When planting roses, mix True Organic® Vegetable & Flower Planting Mix 50/50 with your native soil to create an ideal growing environment. Top dress with compost annually to maintain fertility.
How do I prepare soil for a new flower bed?
Start by removing weeds and loosening existing soil to 8-10 inches deep. Spread 3-4 inches of True Organic® Vegetable & Flower Planting Mix over the area and work it into the native soil. This improves soil structure, adds organic nutrients, and creates an ideal growing environment for annuals, perennials, and bulbs.
What’s the difference between planting mix and garden soil?
Planting mix is a premium, ready-to-use soil blend formulated for optimal plant growth. It’s lighter and more nutrient-dense than bulk garden soil. True Organic® Vegetable & Flower Planting Mix can be used on its own in raised beds or mixed into native soil to improve garden bed quality.
